The Terms of GCNews

When GCNews was created in 2008 many disussions had taken place with the then home owners of the Gorean Community of GCN. Assurances were given to each owner of then then homes that GCNews will be a different paper to what was on offer and to offer something different, to promote and work for the community as a whole and also to control the level of drama, insults and nonsense other papers at the time were thriving on, GCNews was and is supported by most if not all homes on GCN, as confirmed by membership to the paper.

-GCNews is almost three years old and believes to have kept to the promises made back then and will strive to continue with this. No one likes to be harassed on line, many if not all come on line to relax and have fun and not to see their names, role play or character mistreated, threatend or insulted or splattered accross papers like this. GCNews also accepts that anywhere people may gather be it on or off line, not all will agree to agree, differing views and opinions and conflict will occur as passion can run deep.

-The role and responsibily of The Scribe with the help of Admins and reporting slaves are to help keep such to a minimum accepting that to try erradicte it completely is an impossible task, other roles of GCNews staff is to provoke thought and stimulate topical discussion relating to Gorean role play,as well as other administrive duties.

The Scribe and Admins of this paper work hard and quickly to edit or remove reprehensible messages as soon as possible. However, it is impossible to review all the messages as soon as they are posted. Therefore, you accept that all the messages posted on this paper are the expressed views and opinions of their respective authors and not those of The Scribe or GCNews Admin staff (except messages posted by them) and consequently, they cannot be held responsible of the discussions.

-As will most sites that require account registration, GCNews uses cookies to store information on your computer. These cookies will not contain any personal information; they are only used to improve comfort while browsing.

-The e-mail address you supply is only used in order to confirm the details of your registration as your password (and also to send you back your password if you forget it and should you wish to receive GCNews updates) and will not be disclosed to a third party.

- Aggressive or slanderous messages, as well as personal insults and critics, coarseness and vulgarities, and more generally any message contravening to UK/US laws are prohibited.

- Messages that promote - or evoke - illegal practices are prohibited.

- Posting of personal information- this includes personal emails, scrolls and private messages UNLESS to aid in the outing of duelling.

- If you post information from another site you are asked to give credit to it and respect the work of their administrators.

- Please post your messages only once repetitions posts are unpleasant and useless, not to mention annoying.

-Any message contravening the listing above will be edited or removed without additional notice or justification within deadlines which will depend on the availability of The Scribe and Admin staff.

-Any abuse or threats towards GCNews staff or their role play characters for carrying out their role on the paper will involve the cancellation of the registration and notice given in the paper of such removals, remember the internet is neither an anonymous space, nor a space of no-right.

-The Scribe as held, reserves the responsility of informing your access provider and/or the legal authorities of any illegal matter as defined by UK and US law. An IP address of each poster is recorded in order to help us to make you respect these conditions.

- You committed yourself to respect unreservedly these current rules.

- You granted The Scribe and GCNews Admin staff of this paper the right to move posts to appropriate threads or delete/edit any offensive/insultive/personal/GCNews informatory posts at any moment.

-GCnews equally agrees to only edit and remove such posts and will always state reasons for doing so in the orginal posting.

-You also agreed not to use this board as a means to post slanderous statements or character bash another user. To do so will mean the removal of such posts and a warning issued or the removal of the offending poster.

-Should any user have a complaint or have account issues its required that you contact a member of GCNews staff either by PM here or by papers email GCNews@live.co.uk ALL such posts made on the boards will be removed and remain unaddressed otherwise. GCnews staff doesn’t always get to read every single post made by users and these can often go unseen and unaddressed OR add unwanted drama to the paper.

GCNews does not enjoy removing individuals from the paper and will only ever do so as a last resort, in its history only three users have been removed, I think that speaks volumes. As much as GCNews will try and work with such individuals in the hope they can learn to abide with the rules they agreed to, there is a limit to what can be offered and when faced with the rights and comfort of the masses to that of an indivdual, there will be no exemption made.

All these rules have been in place for three years now and because of them, you have enjoyed the use of GCNews and the freedom of expression it offers, simply because it keeps to its high expected standards each of you have come to accept, enjoy, respect and agreed to abide by when you registered an account with GCNews.
